Registrar safety and support

If you have a legal, ethical or other professional issue during your training, you should discuss it with your training coordinator, medical educator or registrar liaison officer. In some circumstances, you may need to speak to your medical defence organisation (MDO). MDOs are a valuable resource. They provide a range of support services as well as offering resources, such as webinars and newsletters on professionalism and legal and ethical issues. Some legal matters may need to be reported to Ahpra. If you’re unsure if notification is required, your MDO can provide guidance.
GPRA can support you with some legal and professional issues, and the Australian Medical Association also provides assistance if you’re a member.
