To have your training or experience recognised as eligible for RPLE, by the start date of the training program you must have completed either:

  • if you’re an Australian medical graduate, a minimum of 52 calendar weeks (1 year) of hospital-based work in Australia or New Zealand completed post-general registration OR
  • if you’re an international medical graduate, at least 104 weeks (2 years) of hospital-based work in Australia or New Zealand, at least 52 weeks of which was worked at a level above intern level (usually post-general registration) . Please discuss this with your program team.

Your previous training or experience must have been within the past 10 years, be relevant to general practice, and show variety and breadth across components of the RACGP Curriculum and syllabus. You must also be able to demonstrate successful completion of the terms.

For RPLE, we can only approve terms of at least four weeks in duration that were completed in Australia and New Zealand. Experience in international hospitals can’t be considered.
