This guidance applies ONLY to candidates undertaking the limited entry trial GPE pathway which opened in 2016. Entry to this pathway has now closed. Candidates on the General Practice Experience (Practice Eligible) pathway should consult the General Practice Experience (Practice Eligible) Handbook for their requirements.
Applicants must meet the requirements detailed in the General Practice Experience – Entry Policy to be granted entry into the General Practice Experience (GPE) Pathway.
Applicant means a medical practitioner applying for entry into the General Practice Experience Pathway.
Candidate means a medical practitioner enrolled in the General Practice Experience Pathway.
Learning Agreement a legal agreement between the candidate and the RACGP concerning entry, progression and completion of the GPE pathway
3.1 Application process
3.1.1 Applicants must pay the application fee to access the GPE pathway application form.
3.1.2 Applicants must complete all required sections of the GPE pathway application form and provide supporting evidence as detailed in 3.2 of this document.
3.1.3 The RACGP will assess your application to determine whether you have met the entry requirements and confirm the decision in writing. Eligible applicants will be sent a learning agreement.
3.1.4 The applicant must complete and return the signed learning agreement.
3.1.5 The applicant must pay the GPE pathway fee upon receiving an offer of enrolment.
3.1.6 The applicant must be a financial member of RACGP.
3.1.7 Candidates will be considered to be enrolled in the GPE pathway upon completion of 3.1.4 - 3.1.6
3.2.1 Applicants must provide evidence of current Australian medical registration and disclose any conditions, notations or undertakings.
3.2.2 Applicants must provide a letter of support from their current practice which must:
3.3.1 Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application within 4 weeks of submission of a completed application.
