When you apply for the AGPT Program, you can nominate up to four regions where you’d like to carry out your training. Not only do you choose whether you want to pursue the general or rural pathway, but also which region you’d like to live and work in.
The RACGP works with RTOs to offer training places all over the country, across both the general and rural pathways. These places are determined by the Department of Health and are spread across regions which are managed by the RTOs. For the 2022 AGPT Program, the RACGP has been allocated a total of 1,350 training places. Details of where these training places are located and which training pathway they relate to are provided below.

The number of training positions available in each region and on each pathway varies, so it’s important to have a look at the below table carefully and take this into consideration when choosing your preferences.
