Become a mentor and make a meaningful difference by supporting another GP in their career journey. The RACGP connects experienced GPs who want to volunteer their time with mentees seeking guidance and professional development.

As a mentor, your role is to provide guidance, encouragement and a supportive space for reflection and professional growth throughout the program. Mentors are asked to complete approximately 2–3 hours of onboarding prior to program launch, attend three mentor webinars during the program year (maximum 2 hours each; held in August, November and February), and commit to around one hour per month for mentor-mentee catch ups from August to March, either virtually or in person where agreed with your mentee. The program is designed to be flexible and rewarding, while providing mentors with the structure and support needed to build a valuable mentoring relationship.

The program team may contact you for further information to support the matching process.

Step 3: Matching

Our team carefully reviews your experience, skills, and goals to pair you with a mentee who will benefit most from your guidance and support.

Step 4: Onboarding and training

Complete the mentor training content in the Program Hub on gplearning to ensure you feel fully prepared and supported for your mentoring relationship.

Concerns about your mentee? Contact the RACGP Mentoring Program team for a confidential discussion or speak with a colleague or fellow mentor
Mandatory reporting: Mentors must be aware of legislative requirements in their state or territory. If a mentee may pose a risk to the public, you may have a legal obligation to report. For guidance, refer to Ahpra or your medico-legal provider
