Smoking cessation for Aboriginal patients

Webinar summary

26 November 2019

In 2014-15, 45 per cent of Aboriginal Australians were smokers and tobacco smoking is responsible for 23 per cent in the gap in health burden between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australian. This webinar looks at the high smoking rates among Aboriginal people along with the associated health risks, and address the issues and barriers to quitting that Aboriginal patients face.

We discuss evidence based and culturally appropriate tobacco control approaches, including smoking cessation and the use of pharmacotherapy products, and share a number of pathways that patients can access for smoking cessation support.
