An RACGP CPD solution to stay clinically up to date and support your annual CPD

This CPD solution is designed around 10th Edition of RACGP Red Book’s recommendations for GPs to support participation in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.

The Program aims to reduce deaths from bowel cancer by detecting early signs of the disease. If found early, more that 90% of cases can be successfully treated. Currently, 40.9% of eligible patients are participating in the program (based on 2020-21 data).

This page is designed to help GPs review your approach to identify and engage eligible patients (aged 45 to 74 years), to participate in the program through a free in-home test every 2 years.

You can complete one, several, or all activities in any order to stay clinically up to date while contributing to your annual CPD requirements.

check, unit 612, Bowel cancer, June 2024 (5hrs EA, 5hrs RP)

This unit of check is dedicated to the investigation and management of people presenting with bowel cancer symptoms, with a focus on early detection, treatment and supportive care.

Bowel cancer screening mini audit (5hrs MO)

Available on-demand via gplearning

This mini-audit allows you to review how you opportunistically screen patients to support participation in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. The audit criteria are presented as a simple checklist of steps that GPs can take within their usual role and scope of practice to identify eligible patients, engage them in a conversation, provide education about the program, and offer appropriate follow-up care.

You can complete the audit using either the last 10 patients you have seen, or the next 10 patients aged 45 to 75 years.

CPD hours will be automatically uploaded upon completion.
