The GPE Pathway entry requirements are detailed in the General Practice Experience Pathway – Entry Policy.

FSP registrars can refer to their requirements in the Fellowship Support Program Registrar Handbook.

 
Eligibility
  • Determine eligibility to apply for the Fellowship Support Program (FSP) before submitting an application.
  • Outcome will be delivered by email.
  • Eligible applicants will be issued a program agreement.
Training Program
  • Sign the program agreement, show evidence of basic life support certification, become an RACGP member, complete Medicare provider number form, and pay program term fees.
  • Satisfactorily complete the RACGP program requirements to continue provider number access.
GPE Application
  • Submit a GPE application to determine if experience requirements to enrol in RACGP exams are met.
  • Formal confirmation of having met education and training requirements to be exam eligible will be issued.
Examinations
  • Enrol into the RACGP Fellowship exams when exam eligibility requirements have been met.
  • Complete three Fellowship exams within three calendar years of the commencement of candidacy.
Fellowship
  • Complete all RACGP Fellowship requirements including passing all exams.
  • Apply for Fellowship.

Fellowship Exams Policy

A valid GPE assessment of one year (FTE) of comprehensive Australian general practice experience in the last four years.

Requirements for Fellowship Policy

A minimum of three years (FTE) general practice experience in the past 10 years (including overseas experience), of which at least two years (FTE) must be in comprehensive Australian general practice.

Practice Experience Program - Standard (PEP ST)

PEP ST Policies

General Practice Experience:

General Practice Experience Pathway – Exam Eligibility

At least four years of full time equivalent (FTE) experience in general practice over the last ten years, which includes:

  1. One year’s FTE completed in the last four years;
  2. One year’s FTE in Australian general practice; and
  3. At least six months’ FTE in comprehensive Australian general practice undertaken in the last four years.

General Practice Experience:

General Practice Experience Pathway – Requirements for Fellowship Policy

  1. Have five years’ full time equivalent (FTE) general practice experience including one year in comprehensive Australian general practice experience.
  2. Have seven years’ FTE postgraduate experience.
