1. Introduction

This guidance document explains how candidates on the General Practice Experience (GPE) Pathway apply for Fellowship of the RACGP.

2. Definitions

Candidate means a medical practitioner enrolled in the General Practice Experience Pathway.

3. Guidance

3.1 Candidates can access the Fellowship Application Form from their results statement when they log into the RACGP website.

3.2 Candidates must complete the Fellowship Application Form and submit it to their state faculty including:

  1. A correctly completed Fellowship Application Form
  2. Documentary evidence of completion of:
    1. A Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course within the 12 months prior to applying for Fellowship
    2. An Advanced Life Support (ALS) course within the four years prior to applying for Fellowship
    3. A minimum of four years and six months full time equivalent general practice experience over the last ten years, which must include one year full time equivalent comprehensive Australian general practice
  3. GPE Education Program completion form signed by the pathway Medical Educator
  4. GPE Pathway exit interview documentation.

3.3 The candidate will receive notification of the outcome of the application within 6 weeks from the date the application was submitted to the RACGP.
