To ensure applicants for the Fellowship Support Program (FSP) are best placed to achieve Fellowship at the end of their training program, we’re making important updates to the FSP entry requirements.
Following consultation and review, these changes will be introduced in phases, over two application periods, 2026.1 and 2026.2 to allow time to prepare.
If you have any questions about the changes please contact our support team at becomeagp@racgp.org.au.
What’s changing?
For the 2026.1 cohort and beyond:
For the 2026.2 cohort and beyond:
- To be announced in the coming months.
Next steps
Doctors planning to apply for the 2026.1 intake who already have a training site in mind that aren’t accredited against the RACGP standards for general practice training, are encouraged to ask them to submit an expression of interest and begin their accreditation journey now.
All expressions of interest must be submitted no later than 4:00pm AEST Tuesday 12 August 2025. We encourage practices to start this process as soon as possible.
If a nominated training site and/or supervisor is not accredited by the commencement of the 2026.1 term, and all other eligibility criteria are met, the position on the program will be held until the following term, allowing the doctor time to source an accredited training site.
If you don’t already have a practice in mind, there may already be an accredited training site in your area. You can explore a list of currently accredited RACGP training facilities here.
Why are these changes being made?
The requirements are being updated to ensure applicants are best prepared to achieve RACGP Fellowship.
Accreditation is an important foundation for training sites, ensuring that the practice and supervisors fully understand what is required to best support registrars through their training journey. It ensures registrars are training in an environment aligned with RACGP's principles of training.
