Patient caseload
So that you gain a breadth of experience throughout your general practice training terms, you’re expected to work in a range of general practice activities, including after-hours and off-site care if the practice provides these services.
You should see no more than four patients per hour in any general practice term. Your caseload should be monitored (by you, your supervisor, ME and the practice) to ensure you see patients from a range of demographics (eg age, gender) and with varied presentations. Factors such as your level of experience, skills, if you are new to the practice and the types of services offered will be considered when managing your caseload. Your caseload may change as you progress through a term, but this will only be with mutual agreement and shouldn’t exceed four patients per hour.
