It is not uncommon for some GPs to struggle with passing the RACGP Fellowship exam. There are many reasons why this occurs and those having difficulty will require support (eg assistance with preparation of learning plans, general guidance and study support) and perhaps even formal tutoring or mentoring. A suggested approach to providing support for those who have failed one or more segments of the exam may be found in the RACGP’s A guide to understanding and managing performance concerns in international medical graduates, which discusses issues that international medical graduates working in Australia contend with and the performance concerns that they present with.
