Developing training for GPs

Training levels

The GPMHSC committee formally accredits two levels of training: Mental health Skills Training/MHST (level 1/introductory) and Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training/FPS ST (level 2/advanced).

The GPMHSC is responsible for accrediting training in mental health for GPs which, on completion, gives GPs access to specific Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) item numbers.

The GPMHSC is also responsible for accrediting ongoing mental health continuing professional development and FPS continuing professional development.

Please see below for an outline of the two level of training.
