Dr Talila Milroy
2020 AIDA academic post holder
‘After completing the RACGP AIDA Academic Post in 2020 I have had so many opportunities to expand my career into medical education and research.
My project on experiences of racism for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander GP trainees taught me so much about racism in medical training and GP workplaces and about research methodologies.
Since then I was able to join the university as a long term academic staff member in general practice and Aboriginal health teams. I have also been able to enrol in a PhD and continue my career goal of balancing clinical work with education and research. This mix of work allows me to listen to the patients and communities I work with in clinic and bring questions and ideas to the forefront of education and research at the university. This post is a wonderful opportunity for learning and collaboration.’
