The RACGP is committed to delivering a high-quality GP training program that educates GPs to provide appropriate healthcare to address the needs of all population groups across Australian communities. To achieve this, we partner with accredited training practices and accredited GP supervisors to provide quality education and training to GP registrars. Our goal is to ensure that GP registrars are exposed to holistic care and emulate behaviours and attributes of a highly professional GP.
Following the transition of GP training back to the RACGP in February 2023, the college has developed workforce priority plans for each state and territory. These plans have been informed by the Workforce Planning and Prioritisation Organisation (WPPO) reports, as well as previous RTO data and local knowledge. The RACGPs workforce priority plans are designed to ensure that registrar workforce is distributed in a way that supports communities being able to access the care that they need.
We are seeking to accredit a limited number of new training sites in identified areas of workforce need. We are specifically looking for training sites and supervisors who are committed to maintaining a culture of teaching and learning and can be relied upon to deliver high-quality, safe training for GP registrars in accordance with the following:
Note
The RACGP is ONLY accepting expressions of interest from National General Practice Accreditation (NGPA) scheme accredited general practices who wish to become an accredited training site in the following GP Catchments*.
