Rural and general pathways
In the Australian General Practice Training Program, you can apply to train in a general or rural pathway. General pathway registrars may train in a variety of urban, rural and remote locations. Rural pathway registrars train in rural and/or remote general practice placements.
If you’re an international medical graduate or a foreign graduate of an Australian medical school, you may be affected by the 10-year moratorium which may limit your pathway choice to rural pathway. For more information about the moratorium, see the 2024 AGPT Eligibility and Application Guide.
