FPS CPD Case-Based Discussions

The Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) CPD case-based discussions is a continuing professional development activity that has been designed to support GPs who are already implementing FPS with patients, evaluating their practice, and further developing their skills. Each participant will present a case and through peer-group discussions, participants will extend their FPS skills by exploring the intervention methods they currently use. Participants will also review challenging cases and develop strategies for addressing barriers to achieving best practice.

This activity is offered via the Zoom platform and comprises of four, two-hour case-based discussion sessions from 5:30 - 7:30pm AEST in the weeks of 13 May, 27 May, 3 June and 17 June 2024.

Cost: $395 for RACGP members and $495 for non-members.

This course is a CPD Approved Activity under the RACGP CPD Program (eligible for 9 hours) and accredited as an FPS CPD course by the GPMHSC.

Grand Rounds: Climate Change in General Practice

This grand rounds looks at the health effects of climate change, illustrating the issue with case studies drawn from general practice. It demonstrates how this topic is relevant to a GP's work and how we can help make a difference in this increasingly important area.

- Respiratory impacts of bushfire smoke

Introduction To Point-of-care Ultrasound - Mildura, VIC

Experienced rural doctors and sonographers will guide you through the diverse applications of point-of-care ultrasound in primary care services using advanced, high-end mobile ultrasound equipment provided by our sponsor, GE Healthcare.

Capped at 30 participants, you'll rotate through six stations; eFast, deep venous thrombosis, heart and lung ultrasound, intravenous line placement and foreign object retrieval, musculoskeletal soft tissue and first trimester transabdominal obstetric ultrasound.

The workshop is a RACGP CPD Accredited Activity. GPs can earn 10 CPD hours (5 hours Education Activity and 5 hours Reviewing Performance) and is eligible for all categories of the Rural Procedural Grants Program.

The workshop runs from 8.30am to 4.30pm and offered to RACGP members at $995 (incl. GST) and to non-members at $1,295 (incl. GST).

This is a pre-conference workshop as part of the Victorian Rural Health Conference 2024.

Christies Beach Parkrun

parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, or run 5k, volunteer or spectate. It is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit, and no one finishes last.

The RACGP has partnered with parkrun Australia to promote the health and wellbeing of our communities. GP practices are encouraged to develop close links with their local parkrun to become a parkrun practice.

RACGP SA is pleased to be taking part in the Christies Beach parkrun. Members are invited to meet at registration prior to the parkrun, with light refreshments available following the event.

Online Emergency Medicine for Rural GPs

Designed and facilitated by experienced rural GPs and emergency specialists, the emergency medicine for Rural GPs workshop aims to enhance rural emergency medicine skills using case scenarios that reflect the challenges faced when living and working in rural and remote communities.

This online workshop involves four small-group interactive case scenario discussions and capped at 40 participants. The workshop will also explore critical considerations involved in managing rural emergency cases, packaging patients for retrieval, communicating effectively with retrieval teams, debriefing and self-care. All the scenarios included in the workshop are written by experienced rural GPs from actual cases.

Online Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training

The RACGP Rural Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training (FPS ST) package provides GPs with essential training to enable them to become a GP provider of Foccussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) and provide CBT-derived FPS conselling to patients in their practice.

This flexible, innovative training package is made up of four Modules and uses a combination of technology, peer learning groups and locally available resources to provide GPs with access to FPS skills training whist remaining in their practice and community.

Please note: Level 1 Mental Health Skills Training (MHST) is a prerequisite for enrolment in the FPS ST training package.

The training package has GPMHSC accreditation and on completion GPs can gain FPS provider registration with Medicare to access FPS related MBS numbers 2721, 2723, 2725 and 2727.

Cost:RACGP Members: $1,279 (Inc GST) and Non-members $1,579 (Inc GST)
