Emergency Update for Practice Staff (FULL)

This course will assist practice staff in identifying and planning for emergency situations in general practice. Practice staff should be aware of what to do in case of a medical emergency. Whilst the medical care may ultimately reside with the general practitioners (GPs), there are various other responsibilities that need to be undertaken in cases of emergencies.

  • Strategies to address various types of emergencies
  • How to recognise an emergency patient
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • What to do if a patient collapses in the waiting area
  • The process of working with ambulance service in an emergency
  • How to support your GP following an emergency.

SA Fellowship and Awards Ceremony 2019

The SA Fellowship and Awards Ceremony is the premier event on the RACGP SA&NT calendar. It is an opportunity for the general practice community to honour New Fellows and celebrate their achievement of Fellowship. Award recipients will also be recognised.

Musculoskeletal Injuries and Conditions

Assessment and management of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries is a significant part of the workload of general practice. This workshop will focus on the head, shoulders and knees.

Introduction To Point-of-care Ultrasound - Adelaide

The 'Introduction to point-of-care ultrasound for GPs' Active Learning Module (ALM) is designed to support GPs to increase their understanding of the applications of point-of-care ultrasound in the diagnostic process. The training is delivered by practicing GPs and sonographers who are experienced in using ultrasound in their practice environment.

This full-day ALM will give general practice registrars and practicing GPs the opportunity to identify practical applications of ultrasound technology in general practice settings and utilise point of care ultrasound devices under the guidance of experts.

The ALM is accredited for 40 QI&CPD Category 1 points and is also approved for the Rural Procedural Grants Program.

The ALM runs from 7.30am till 3.45pm and will be offered at $495 (incl. GST). Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

Rural Hospital Clinical Simulation

The Rural Hospital Clinical Simulation (RHCS) aims to enhance patient safety and GP self-care by providing rural GPs with the opportunity to engage in a structured 6 hour active learning module (ALM) to discuss and simulate scenarios reflecting the many challenges rural GPs face when living and working in rural and remote communities. There will be a strong emphasis on emergency medicine situations, doctor self-care, coordinating and communicating with other healthcare professionals, stress management and debriefing. All the scenario cases to be included in the ALM have been written by experienced rural GPs from actual cases.
