Charles Bridges-Webb Oration 2019 - Sydney

Program: 6.00pm arrival drinks, 6.30pm meeting starts, 8.00pm networking drinks and canapes

Venue: Mary McKillop Place, North Sydney

At the 2019 Charles Bridges-Webb Oration Prof Susan Thompson will address the plague of chronic conditions that affect physical and mental wellbeing, and how they have become such intractable problems. Looking beyond primary factors like exercise, diet, stress control and social engagement, she will highlight the role environment plays in influencing a healthy lifestyle.

Prof Thompson will critically consider the ways in which our environment can be designed, planned and managed to support physical activity, connectedness and better health decisions. She will interrogate the challenges of our rising population and increasingly dense cities, advising on how medical practitioners can connect with urban planners to create healthy built environments for the benefit of their patients seeking to be healthy.
