Having Conversations About Healthy Growth in Young Children

The third addition in our Tackling Childhood Obesity series, this webinar will focus on the 0-2 age group. We will discuss how to assess healthy growth in this age group and identify what to do if a child has an upward or downwards growth trajectory. We will also explore the association between unhealthy growth in infancy and overweight and obesity in childhood. Join Professor Mark Harris and Professor Elizabeth Denny Wilson in discussing the current guidelines and recommendations for the introduction of solids, movement and screen time in infancy and how to speak to parents about best practice formula feeding.

Prep for PrEP- Prevent HIV From Your Practice - Hurstville

NSW Health and the RACGP are coming to Hurstville

Time: 6:30 registration and light meal, for a 7:00 - 9:30pm session
Venue: Hurstville Entertainment Centre

The Prep for PrEP workshop will examine the critical role GPs have in providing access to PrEP, which is an effective daily HIV preventative pill that can be taken by HIV negative people to prevent further HIV transmission. This will include training on initiating a PrEP discussion, identifying eligible patients, providing patient education around PrEP use and monitoring patients as key components to prescribing.

Prep for PrEP will also reinforce your skills in the provision of HIV and STI testing, using interactive methods to explore HIV and STI testing as part of routine care. Expert facilitators will demonstrate how to use and access practical HIV and STI clinical tools and will walk you through the steps required should a test return a positive result.

Introduction To Point-of-care Ultrasound - Tamworth

The 'Introduction to point-of-care ultrasound for rural GPs' Active Learning Module (ALM) is designed to support rural GPs to increase their understanding of the applications of point-of-care ultrasound in the diagnostic process. The training is delivered by rural GPs and sonographers who are experienced in using ultrasound in their practice environment.

This full-day ALM will give general practice registrars and rural & remote GPs the opportunity to identify practical applications of ultrasound technology in rural general practice settings and utilise point of care ultrasound devices under the guidance of experts.

The ALM is accredited for 40 QI&CPD Category 1 points and is also approved for the Rural Procedural Grants Program.

The ALM runs from 8.30am till 4.30pm and will be offered to RACGP members at $495 (incl. GST). Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

Expression of interest for the 2019 NSW&ACT Fellowship Ceremony in Sydney

RACGP NSW&ACT will held two Fellowship Ceremonies in 2019:

- Saturday 21 September 2019 in Canberra

- Saturday 16 November 2019 in Sydney

Everyone who fellowed between 1 August 2018 and 30 June 2019 will automatically receive their invitations for both ceremonies on 1 July 2019. You can however add your email address to the distribution through this registration page.

Please note that you will have to register in July for either ceremony. This is only an express of interest list.
