Flu Vaccination Update 2019

The annual influenza webinar will help you prepare for the 2019 influenza season. The webinar will include discussion on factors contributing to varying influenza impact in NSW in recent years and the impact and outcomes of the 2018 influenza vaccine to children under 5 years of age program. We will take you through which formulations of the 2019 influenza vaccine will be provided for the National Immunisation Program, their optimal use in eligible age groups, and how to utilise the NSW Health Flu Vaccination Tool Kit to optimise your vaccine supplies and maximise uptake of influenza vaccine.

Hepatitis C Case Studies for General Practice

Following our Hepatitis C Seek to Treat Series, this webinar will present a variety of case studies that will encourage critical thinking on your part to work your way through a number of different patients, with the end goal of increasing your confidence of dealing with hepatitis C in general practice.

The focus of these case studies will be ordering and interpreting patient tests necessary to diagnose hepatitis C and preparing patients for treatment. Recognising risks, signs and symptoms of liver disease and other co-morbidities that require management and/or referral to specialist care, and finally choosing appropriate hepatitis C antiviral therapies according to virus genotype and potential for drug-drug interactions.

Prep for PrEP- Prevent HIV From Your Practice - Hurstville

NSW Health and the RACGP are coming to Hurstville

Time: 6:30 registration and light meal, for a 7:00 - 9:30pm session
Venue: Hurstville Entertainment Centre

The Prep for PrEP workshop will examine the critical role GPs have in providing access to PrEP, which is an effective daily HIV preventative pill that can be taken by HIV negative people to prevent further HIV transmission. This will include training on initiating a PrEP discussion, identifying eligible patients, providing patient education around PrEP use and monitoring patients as key components to prescribing.

Prep for PrEP will also reinforce your skills in the provision of HIV and STI testing, using interactive methods to explore HIV and STI testing as part of routine care. Expert facilitators will demonstrate how to use and access practical HIV and STI clinical tools and will walk you through the steps required should a test return a positive result.

Introduction To Point-of-care Ultrasound - Tamworth

The 'Introduction to point-of-care ultrasound for rural GPs' Active Learning Module (ALM) is designed to support rural GPs to increase their understanding of the applications of point-of-care ultrasound in the diagnostic process. The training is delivered by rural GPs and sonographers who are experienced in using ultrasound in their practice environment.

This full-day ALM will give general practice registrars and rural & remote GPs the opportunity to identify practical applications of ultrasound technology in rural general practice settings and utilise point of care ultrasound devices under the guidance of experts.

The ALM is accredited for 40 QI&CPD Category 1 points and is also approved for the Rural Procedural Grants Program.

The ALM runs from 8.30am till 4.30pm and will be offered to RACGP members at $495 (incl. GST). Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
