FPS CPD Case-Based Discussions

The Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) CPD case-based discussions is a continuing professional development activity that has been designed to support GPs who are already implementing FPS with patients, evaluating their practice, and further developing their skills. Each participant will present a case and through peer-group discussions, participants will extend their FPS skills by exploring the intervention methods they currently use. Participants will also review challenging cases and develop strategies for addressing barriers to achieving best practice.

This activity is offered on Zoom and comprises of four, two-hour case-based discussion sessions from 5.30-7.30pm AEST on Monday 13 April, 27 April, 11 May and 25 May 2026.

Cost: $395 for RACGP members and $495 for non-members.

This course is a CPD Approved Activity under the RACGP CPD Program (eligible for 9 hours) and accredited as an FPS CPD course by the GPMHSC.

CBT Skills for GPs - May

Online via gplearning

RACGP Rural's Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) skills for GPs is a fully online course designed to equip you with foundational CBT skills. It focuses on the practical application of cognitive restructuring techniques and behavioural strategies to support the management of common mental health presentations in general practice.

The course comprises six interactive learning modules, including a pre-course reflection activity and final quiz. You can complete each module at your own pace.

This course is a CPD Approved Activity. GPs can earn 3.5 EA and 5 RP CPD hours.

The course is also GPMHSC-accredited for MH CPD and FPS CPD.

CPR for GPs - Full

This CPR course is run in conjunction with Medical Training Solutions and provides participants with the necessary cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) knowledge and skills required in general practice.

The course is facilitated in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and is instructed by accredited Australian Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support instructors.

Completion of this course meets the GP specialist high-level requirement for the 2026-28 triennium.

How to read and critically appraise scientific papers

Join Dr Michael Tam, GP and senior lecturer, UNSW, for a practical session on navigating emerging evidence in complex conditions, including Long COVID, ME/CFS, POTS, MCAS, hypermobility syndromes, off-label prescribing, and new therapeutics.

The session will focus on assessing evidence quality, recognising bias, and applying findings safely in real-world general practice, with interactive discussion of relevant papers.

Vaccinations for Special Risk Groups (webinar)

This webinar will explore vaccination considerations for people at increased risk, including those with asplenia and other identified high risk conditions. Topics will include who falls into these groups, which additional vaccines may be recommended, vaccines that may be contraindicated, and when it is appropriate to seek non GP specialist advice. Case studies will be used to support discussion and practical application.

Melanoma Diagnosis Education Session (HPN) Northam

Melanoma Diagnosis: Dermoscopy, Total Body Photography, Serial Imaging and Confocal Microscopy
Join Dr Helena Collgros (Specialist Dermatologist and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists) for an education session on modern approaches to melanoma diagnosis. The session will explore how dermoscopy improves diagnostic accuracy, the role of total body photography and serial imaging in detecting early change, and the use of reflectance confocal microscopy.

Hosted by the Wheatbelt Health Professionals Network in partnership with RACGP WA for GPs and other health professionals in the Wheatbelt region.

Online Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training

The RACGP Rural Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training (FPS ST) package provides GPs with essential training to enable them to become a GP provider of Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) and provide CBT-derived FPS counselling to patients in their practice.

This flexible, innovative training package is made up of four Modules and uses a combination of technology, peer learning groups and locally available resources to provide GPs with access to FPS skills training whist remaining in their practice and community.

Please note: Level 1 Mental Health Skills Training (MHST) is a prerequisite for enrolment in the FPS ST training package.

The training package has GPMHSC accreditation and on completion GPs can gain FPS provider registration with Medicare to access FPS related MBS numbers 2721, 2723, 2725 and 2727.

Dermatological Surgery Workshop - Brisbane


The Dermatological surgery workshop enables participants to perform a range of dermatological surgical techniques used by GPs, including determining when to use non-surgical treatments for skin cancer, complications and risk, and introducing advanced surgical techniques.

The workshop prerequisite is DermCert4, Practical procedures in dermatology, covering 15 common procedures such as steroid injections, local anaesthesia and biopsy.
