Activity description

141929 - ThinkGP - Atrial Fibrillation: A Real-World, Practical Approach for GPs Webinars

Reed Exhibitions Australia Pty Ltd (T/A Reed Medical Education)

What is the GP’s role in diagnosing and treating atrial fibrillation (AF)? Dr Bradley Wilsmore will guide you through identifying AF from other arrhythmias, and compare and contrast safety outcomes of novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs). You will also learn about NOAC reversal in emergencies for anticoagulated patients. There will be an opportunity to discuss the practical application of real-world safety evidence for treatment decisions, using interactive case studies.

Relevance to General Practice

25% of the population in developed countries will develop atrial fibrillation over the lifetime, and this number is expected to rise. General practitioners play a key part in the management of patients with AF, and therefore it is important to be kept up to date regarding the latest development in anticoagulant medications and reversal agents.

Learning outcomes

  1. Understand the role of the GP in the diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation in light of the latest guidelines.
  2. Apply real world safety evidence for standard-dose and reduced-dose NOACs to improve patient outcomes.
  3. Gain a practical understanding of treatment options for atrial fibrillation through case-study scenarios.
  4. Effectively utilise NOAC reversal for anticoagulated patients in emergencies.
