This course works through clinical research of the student's own clinical work. This course teaches that critical thinking and the principles of research underpin quality patient care and help provide intellectual stimulation to your everyday clinical practice – whether this be accessing and interpreting research literature to answer clinical questions or undertaking a research project.

Learning outcomes

  1. Critically evaluate a component of your own clinical practice to ensure that practice is supported by recognised quality standards and/or research evidence
  2. Demonstrate the ability to identify clinical questions in your everyday clinical practice, and to reformulate these into answerable research questions
  3. Describe and explain the concepts of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) and appreciate their relevance to everyday clinical practice
