117616 - IMED7012A Advanced Clinical Cases. UQ Skin Cancer Program

University of Queensland - Faculty of Medicine

This course will form the crux of developing and discussing a doctor's clinical practice in skin cancer medicine. It will comprise a series of clinical cases that will require active engagement from each student by way of essay and discussions conducted online with a clinical expert. These activities will prepare students to complete a portfolio of their clinical work including case summaries, photographs, and interpretations.

Learning outcomes

  1. Display effective dermatoscopy skills in accordance with current clinical practice guidelines
  2. Effectively manage a broad variety of skin cancer presentations within student's own practice
  3. Use a consistent and logical approach to the diagnosis and management of suspected skin cancers
  4. Display critically thinking in skin cancer treatment for each skin cancer presentation, and show how this management accords with clinical practice guidelines.
  5. Confidently present a series of cases to peers that have been managed within student's own practice.
