AGPT for GP practices

The National Terms and Conditions for the Employment of registrars (NTCER) builds in a base salary increase for GP registrars engaged in the AGPT program which is linked to the MBS Item 23. The increase from Term 2 to be applied to the base salary of your GP registrar will be 1.6%.

AGPT Accredited Training Practices and Supervisors who have a registrar training in their practice in 2023 will be supported by the following Nationally Consistent Payments administered by Services Australia from 1 February 2023. 

To receive these payments your practice must: 

• be an accredited AGPT Training Practice
• have a GP registrar employed in your training practice
• have a PRODA organisation account set-up

Payment amounts are set by the Department of Health and paid according to the MMM classification of the accredited training practice as set out below. 

Practice payments will be paid to the practice quarterly in advance per registrar, per term as follows from 1 February 2023:

GP Training will be administrated by the colleges from February 2023. Over the next six months existing RTOs will arrange placements for registrars in Term 1 2023.

The RACGP is mindful that the processes, resources,  placement infrastructure, staffing, relationships and contracts between existing RTOs and training practices (practice managers, supervisors and registrars), remain in place until 1 February 2023.

As RTOs are contracted, funded and resourced with the staff to complete administration through to 1 February 2023, all of the usual processes in place for practices and registrars will continue.  Please see the attachment for further information on Practice Agreements for 2023.

 

The Government Superannuation Guarantee increases from 10% to 10.5% on 1 July. Superannuation payments to GP registrars must reflect this change from 1 July.
