Chair’s report June 2021: Key strategic issues

At the June Board meeting we addressed some of the key strategic issues for the RACGP.

The profession-led community-based training project continues to develop and we’re focused on establishing a training entity that can deliver and fund general practice and fellowship training. The Board emphasised the importance of continuing to work with the RTOs, government and other key external stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition of training back to the college.

The Board also reviewed the CPD renewal campaign, which continues to report strong member response. We’re focused on ensuring our CPD offering is the best in the market and integrated with the value of being a Fellow of the RACGP.

Given we’re almost at the end of the financial year, we reviewed our 2021–22 budget to ensure accountability for member funds and appropriate prioritisation of key projects. We were particularly focused on ensuring faculties are appropriately resourced to deliver the best possible value to members.

We also discussed the upcoming examination delivery, including the tender process and timing for a new exam platform. The Board was assured by the methodology and plans for delivery of exams in the second half of 2021.

I’m also excited about the fact faculty election will be commencing in the next few weeks. This is always a great opportunity to for RACGP leaders to put their best foot forward and to discuss the future of the college with our members. We’ll provide more information when it comes to hand.
