The Endometriosis Management Plan (EMP)

The Endometriosis Management Plan (EMP) is a structured tool that supports the evidence-based assessment and care of people with suspected or confirmed endometriosis or chronic pelvic pain (CPP) in general practice.

The EMP supports GPs in tailoring treatment to individual needs and coordinating effectively with other providers.

It also facilitates structured documentation and shared decision‑making, guiding the development of a chronic condition management plan when needed to support access to multidisciplinary care.

The EMP has been developed by Monash University’s SPHERE Centre of Research Excellence, in partnership with the RACGP, with funding from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing as part of the National Endometriosis Action Plan.

It embeds key recommendations from the Australian Living Evidence Guideline: Endometriosis.

Using the Endometriosis Management Plan (EMP) in clinical practice

This webinar, presented by Prof Danielle Mazza AM and Dr Jason Abbott, uses case-based discussions to demonstrate how the Endometriosis Management Plan (EMP) can be applied in general practice. Building on the previous webinars, the session translates knowledge into practice through patient scenarios reflecting common challenges in diagnosis, management, multidisciplinary care and referral pathways, and aims to strengthen clinician confidence in using the EMP to support structured, patient-centred and evidence-based care for people with endometriosis.
