Patient resource: Managing post–COVID-19 symptoms

Vaccination following infection

Vaccination following infection

Vaccination against COVID-19 is strongly encouraged, as having had COVID-19 does not protect you from having it again. It is currently understood that the risk of reinfection with the Omicron variant is very low in the first three months following a confirmed infection. Therefore, you should wait three months from your initial infection to have your next vaccine (if you are due for a dose)13. This will give you added protection as immunity from infection wanes. Talk with your GP if you have any questions about vaccination or to book.
