This updated edition of Management of type 2 diabetes: A handbook for general practice (Diabetes Handbook) contains new sections on the following topics:

Gestational Diabetes   

Content has been updated to align with ADIPS 2025 Consensus Recommendations for the Screening, Diagnosis and Classification of Gestational Diabetes, which provides updated diagnostic glucose thresholds for GDM and clarifies approaches to early pregnancy screening for women with risk factors for hyperglycaemia in pregnancy.

Type 2 diabetes: Goals for optimum management

Vaccination section updated: RSV (age >60 years) is now listed as ‘Recommended immunisations’ in line with the Australian immunisation handbook. Previously, it was listed under ‘Consider’.
