Choosing Wisely Australia

Tests, treatments and procedures clinicians and consumers should question

Choosing Wisely Australia® is part of a global healthcare initiative to improve the safety and quality of healthcare.

The goal of Choosing Wisely Australia is to promote a national dialogue on unnecessary tests, treatments and procedures, support people to choose health care that is:

• supported by evidence;
• not duplicative of other tests or treatments already received;
• free from harm;
• truly necessary.

The RACGP is a member of this initiative, and has so far provided ten recommendations.
