UGPA description

  • ACTION: Include description in UGPA papers going forward to reinforce the purpose of UGPA.


  • All UGPA members are encouraged to keep reminding the Government regarding their specific concerns in relation to red-tape.

Bowel screening

  • AGPN has some key strategies and would like to engage the CMO on this. Better GP engagement will give us better results for better targeting and better screening.
  •  ACTION: AGPN to draft letter for UGPA’s consideration to Chris Baggoley, calling for real GP engagement regarding the bowel screening program.


Federal Budget 2015-16


Drug strategy

  • Concern that Government should be taking a broader response to drug and alcohol issues, as opposed to focussing on Ice only

MBS and Primary Healthcare Reviews

  • Concern that reviews are only stating support for general practice, as opposed to genuine action and support for general practice
  • GP funding should not be diverted to allied health


MBS Freeze and implications

  • ACTION: RACGP and AMA to develop draft for UGPA’s consideration regarding:
  1. MBS rebate freeze
  2. Concession card issue
  3. Health Insurance Act 1973 amendment allowing for GPs to charge a gap payment only


Pharmacists in general practice

  • ACTION: AMA to draft UGPA statement regarding in-principle support for pharmacists in general practice


Pharmacy agreement

GP training update

  • GP Training Advisory Committee still needs to be finalised
  • Continues to be discussion around the colleges role in registrar selection
  • The process for Regional Training Organisation (RTO) accreditation remains unclear


Bonded Scholars Support

  • ACTION: ACRRM to draft joint UGPA letter and circulate for consideration and signoff


Withdrawal of HECS reimbursement

  • ACTION: ACRRM to include issue as part of joint UGPA letter in Item 7


Primary Health Networks

  • ACTION: GPRA to circulate research regarding GP networks and Medicare Locals
