UGPA strategy

  • ACTION for November meeting: Discussion on UGPA strategy going forward

Bowel screening

  • AGPN has sent letter to Chris Baggoley regarding the importance of GP engagement for reviewing the bowel screening program. No reply has been received to date.

Primary Health Networks

  • ACTION (for GPRA): Circulate abstract on research presented at rural health alliance regarding PHNs and MLs.


Medicare rebate freeze

  • ACTION: Update media release on freeze within context of having new Prime Minister.
  • ACTION: Send letter to the Prime Minister regarding rebate freeze, including issues of Registrar training and Rural practices (indexing on Medicare).
  • ACTION (for GPSA): Provide statement on 5 – 10 year freeze on Supervisor payments.


Primary Health Care Advisory Group (PHCAG)


UGPA did not provide a submission to the PHCAG review.

MBS review


General practice is involved in most of the MBS groups, given either direct or indirect involvement.
UGPA response to the MBS review would be premature.

After hours Practice Incentive Program (PIP)

  • ACTION: Retain for UGPA agenda on 25 November 2015


GP training and GP training reference group issues


There is uncertainty surrounding GP training, including details regarding the GP reference group, successful Regional Training Organisations, and the next Registrar selection process.

  • ACTION: Members of UGPA to call for the Government to provide details and clarification around training arrangements.


Items for discussion with Martin Bowles on 25 November 2015

  • ACTION: Call for items for discussion with Martin Bowles one month prior to November meeting.


Red tape – Response from Minister to RACGP letter

  • RACGP received a response from the Minister regarding its red tape submission on 21 July 2015.


Other business

  • ACTION for November meeting: UGPA to review achievements and look at more pro-active motions.

GPSA is looking at the terms and conditions for engaging supervisors and welcomes UGPA member feedback on the topic as GPSA develops it (no formal action)
