The RACGP’s response emphasises the central role of general practice in youth mental health care, highlighting GPs as the primary point of contact for early identification, ongoing management, and coordination of care. The success of these models depends on good integration with general practice to ensure continuity of care and shared clinical responsibility. We raise concerns about fragmentation, time-limited care, workforce constraints, and lack of detail on implementation.
