The RACGP has provided a response to the Senate Community Affairs References Committee on the Inquiry into Excess Mortality. The RACGP’s response provides comments on the terms of reference b and c, stating that the high number of excess mortalities requires further investigations into what has increased and decreased in terms of expected mortality. It also recommends that general practice should be supported through funding mechanisms to achieve its full potential delivering comprehensive preventive health services and supported to deliver the activities in the RACGP’s Guidelines for preventive activities in general practice (Red Book).
