The RACGP has provided a submission to the Mid-Term Review of the National Health Reform Agreement (NHRA) Addendum 2020-2025 to outline opportunities to drive integration and collaboration between primary and secondary health systems and provide maximum return to both health systems. For the NHRA to achieve its goals, significant investment in and prioritisation of primary care will be necessary as if wider reform to how primary and secondary care are funded. The NHRA needs to put an end to the practice of requiring named referrals and develop digital systems that allow for electronic referrals and discharge and transfer of patient records.
