RACGP submission to the Australian Cancer Plan 2023-2033

The RACGP recommends that the key role of GPs in cancer care be clearly articulated and supported throughout the Plan.

The RACGP welcomed the opportunity to provide comment on the upcoming development of The Australian Cancer Plan 2023-33 (the Plan). The RACGP response highlights the important role of the GP in all aspects of cancer care, and advocates for funding for GPs to undertake essential practice population health and care coordination tasks. The important role of the GP in cancer care should be enhanced in order to improve patient access and quality of care. The Plan should aim to achieve improvements in all aspects of cancer care, including prevention, screening, testing and diagnosis with efficient and timely referral processes.
