The RACGP has provided a response to the Department of Health’s ‘General practice data and electronic clinical decision support - Issues Paper consultation’.

In the response, the RACGP calls for acknowledgement of general practice ownership and clinical leadership of GP data, highlighting the need for a clear value proposition for general practice at the heart of developments.

The unique value of general practice data is unquestioned and the RACGP encourage the Department of Health to take national lead to ensure protection from organisations using data for financial gain rather than to benefit patient health outcomes. Support for primary care research and data quality is essential.
