Summary
Date: 12 November 2020
The RACGP has responded to the final submissions made by Council Assisting the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. Their written submission ran to a total of 475 pages and 124 recommendations.
We have previously provided submissions and evidence at hearings which consider concerns and themes in-depth and propose practical solutions, demonstrating our willingness to engage with the Royal Commission. Given this, as well as the volume of material and short timeframe in which to respond, our response was restricted largely to those sections of most relevance to the GP scope of practice and the delivery of care.
The Royal Commission specified that submissions must be in a certain format, with a maximum 300 words available to respond to each draft recommendation. This format was adapted for ease of reference in the attached document.
