The RACGP has provided a response to the Australian Department of Health on the National Preventive Health Strategy (the Strategy) Consultation Paper.
Preventive healthcare is a key component of general practice in Australia and the RACGP’s response:
- focuses on the role of general practice in preventive health
- recommends the Strategy addresses the role of social determinants of health and issues of inequity, environmental issues and social prescribing
- cautions on harms from overdiagnosis
- recommends inclusion of additional focus areas
