RACGP response to the proposed changes to the use of pertussis vaccines in pregnant women – Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation

Last updated 30 May 2019

Summary

Date: 8 February 2019

The RACGP welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback on Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation's proposed changes to the use of pertussis vaccines in pregnant women.

Expanding the vaccination period provides more opportunities for GPs to confirm that pregnant patients are immunised, and that preterm babies are better protected.

The RACGP notes that it is important that any changes – and the benefits of the changes - are widely communicated and implemented effectively, with notification to all relevant stakeholders.
