Summary

12 November 2018

The Commonwealth Department of Health recently released a draft on Establishing a National Women's Health Strategy for 2020 to 2030, which will build on the current National Women’s Health Policy.

Lead by Jean Hailes Foundation, the Department is seeking feedback and comments from stakeholders and the community to account for changes in the policy environment, and to identify of gaps and emerging issues so that health system resources at the national and jurisdictional levels are directed at efficiently addressing women’s health.

The RACGP has concerns that the draft does not adequately address issues of access barriers, overdiagnosis, gender equality, violence, implementation of initiatives and research.
