The Commonwealth Department of Health recently released a draft on Establishing a National Men's Health Strategy for 2020 to 2030, which will build on the current National Male Health Policy.

Lead by Andrology Australia, the Department is seeking feedback and comments from stakeholders and the community to account for changes in the policy environment, and to identify of gaps and emerging issues so that health system resources at the national and jurisdictional levels are directed at efficiently addressing men’s health.

The RACGP has concerns that the draft does not adequately address issues of access barriers, overdiagnosis, suicide, violence, implementation of initiatives and research. In particular, the RACGP disagrees with the recommendation to introduce a specialisation in men’s health in general practice.
