The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) is consulting on a draft National Framework for Maternity Services (NFMS). General practice provides person centred, comprehensive and coordinated whole-person healthcare to individuals and their families in their communities, and is a mainstay of maternity services.
The RACGP has provided a response to the NFMS consultation, outlining concerns about the marginalisation of general practitioners out of obstetric care and as such is keen to engage with all relevant stakeholders to improve the quality and continuity of care for women and their babies.
