The RACGP supports the interim decision to amend the Poisons Standard for vitamin B6 as a positive step towards reducing the risk of harm from excessive intake. We agree scheduling is only one part of the regulatory framework for managing risks associated with medicines and support complementary actions to be in place - including public education, consistency in ingredient naming, strengthening labelling requirements, reviewing appropriateness of the 10mg limit for caffeinated beverages, and review of health claims.
