The RACGP has provided a response to the Department of Health and Aged Care on Expanding eligibility under the Midwife Professional Indemnity Scheme for low-risk homebirths. The RACGP’s response highlights the central role of GPs in the provision of maternal care, cautions against de-medicalisation and, provides recommendations to distinguish between Birthing on Country and home birth and low risk criteria.
