RACGP submission to the senate inquiry on equitable access to diagnosis and treatment for individuals with rare and less common cancers, including neuroendocrine cancer

Date: 13 September 2023

The RACGP submission to the Inquiry into Equitable access to diagnosis and treatment for individuals with rare and less common cancers, including neuroendocrine cancer highlights the crucial GP role in rare and less common cancer care which needs to be appropriately supported.

GPs work across a broad scope of practice, and with their existing training in differential diagnoses and care coordination, play a key role in shared care models which should be supported and funded to deliver evidence-based and coordinated care to patients. It is also important that up-to-date, evidence-based information on such cancers be available to GPs at point of care.
