Standards for health services in Australian prisons

We’re seeking feedback on the draft RACGP Standards for health services in Australian prisons (2nd edition)

 Consultation closed

We’re seeking your feedback on the draft RACGP Standards for health services in Australian prisons (2nd edition) (Prison Standards).
The Prison Standards aim to support health professionals and their employer organisations in their endeavours to provide high-quality healthcare to people in Australian prisons.

The Prison Standards have been jointly developed by the RACGP working group – Standards for health services in Australian prisons and the RACGP Expert Committee – Standards for General Practices, and have been informed by:

  • available national and international evidence
  • comparable national and international standards
  • feedback from RACGP members and stakeholders.

The current draft incorporates feedback we received throughout prior consultation with members and stakeholders. This consultation comes as we pilot the Prison Standards in prison health services. Your feedback, along with the outcomes of our pilot, will inform the next draft and ensure that the Prison Standards are meaningful for the profession.
