New RACGP GM, Education Services commences

The RACGP recently welcomed the appointment of Robert LoPresti to the role of General Manager, Education Services.

Rob joined the RACGP in early May from Austin Health, where he’s been the Director, Clinical Education. In this role, he was responsible for the governance, strategic and operational leadership of a large interprofessional unit delivering lifelong learning to medicine, nursing and allied health clinicians.

Rob has extensive experience in senior education leadership positions across both the education and public health sectors. He’s held roles including the Clinical Education Manager and Director of Interprofessional Education and Special Projects within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, at the University of Melbourne.

A Physiotherapist specialising in Intensive Care by training, Rob also holds a Master of Management from the University of Melbourne. In his time at Austin Health and the University of Melbourne he has acquired over $4 million in external funding to lead a variety of hospital, university and statewide education projects and grants.

RACGP CEO Matthew Miles said Rob was a standout candidate during the recruitment process.

‘Rob will bring a wealth of experience to the Education Services portfolio and the broader executive team. We’re thrilled to have him on board with us.’

The RACGP Board and CEO have thanked Tarli Dowling for stepping into the acting General Manager role following Dr Genevieve Yates’ departure and return to clinical practice in February 2021.

‘Tarli’s leadership and determination throughout the past two months has been exceptional and ensured the Education Services team was supported as they continued their great work,’ Dr Miles said.

Rob commenced with the RACGP on Monday 3 May 2021.
