Dr Bev Rowbotham is a haematologist and the former Director of Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology’s Haematology Department. A respected leader in the medical profession, for the past two decades she has played a prominent national role in Australian healthcare and holds numerous key professional, government and board appointments.

Dr Rowbotham is an Associate Professor of The University of Queensland School of Medicine. She has been a ministerial appointment to four Federal Government peak bodies and is the current Chair of the National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council. In this role, she has led the shift in standard setting and accreditation from a compliance focus to a risk-based approach, focused on the prevention of patient harm.  She is Chair of the Avant Mutual Group, Australia’s largest medical indemnity insurer, and sits on the Boards of Avant Insurance Ltd and private health insurer, Doctors Health Fund. She is also a former director of Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Quality Assurance Programs Pty Ltd, a national and international provider of laboratory quality assurance programs.
